Chinese Boxing Encounter represents the overview of how we direct our attention concerning fighting skills. We divide the Encounter into the study of Entry, Touch, and Finish. Entry contains three studies: Offense, Yield and Counter, and Stop Hit. Touch involves duals from the touch arts such as Tai Chi, Pakua, and Wing Chun and Finish is applied when Touch has given the advantage. Finish is studied in terms of learning the most efficient way with highest probabilities. This DVD touches on all categories mentioned, but the focus is the Entry Study. The purpose of Entry is to get a head start. Basics of Chinese Boxing are covered and the effect of the CB principles on the encounter. This DVD will give the viewer an understanding of the Chinese Boxing perspective on fighting.

Tai Chi Chuan - Generic Principles

Tai Chi Chuan, the Generic Principles, is a DVD about Tai Chi and its essence. Even though the form shown in this demonstration dvd is a sequence close to the short Yang style form, the emphasis is learning how to move with Tai Chi Chuan principles. An overview of Tai Chi Chuan is given and then the form is demonstrated in full. A set of important warm up exercises is given along with an explanation of Wu ji the first posture of Tai Chi and the quiet standing that proceeds the practice of the form. Finally the Form is shown in six separate sections both at regular and extra slow speed and from a couple of different angles. For those wanting to try and learn the motions or verify their motions from their study in a class, this DVD should be helpful. There is about an hour and a half of video on this DVD.

Qi Gong

CBII Qigong Workout is a combination of four major gigong areas. The first is joint qigong. The second is Wuji (stillness stance). The third is Ba Dwa Jian (8 Pieces of Brocade). The last is silk reeling solo exercises. You can select one of these four workouts and have a complete system of qigong. Qigong refers to an exercise which stimulates the circulation of qi. For those unfamiliar with the concept of qi it can be compared and contrasted with the circulation systems of blood and lymph. The same things that block blood circulation often blocks qi circulation. These exercises are gentle and can be expanded to different levels. Consult a doctor before engaging in any exercise program.

Wa Lu 1 - Exercises & Applications

Wa Lu is a little known family art coming from Macao in China. Wa Lu has a large curriculum of study but the heart of the study is encompassed in the 44 exercises. Here one takes small sequences of movement and continually repeats them for 5-10 minutes. The practitioner will be able to study his body's structure and tension and examine the pattern of the exercise. The focus is on moving the whole body as a total unit. Wa Lu particularly helps the student trying to move from external art to internal art. It builds relaxation and relaxation is the key to a higher level of boxing. The DVD contains both the 1st and 2nd Wa Lu Videotapes. This includes the application potential of each exercise.

Wa Lu contains two forms. They are short to mediumin length. They develop footwork useful for 360 degree movement. Both forms are shown on this DVD. The three sets of Wa Lu techniques are shown as well. The sets include the Self Defense, the Dog Boxing, and the Master Text. The techniques are in many cases a part of many styles. The difference is the application of Wa Lu energy. This DVD is a combination of our third and fourth Wa Lu Videotapes done in 1993.

Crown Eagle Chin na

Crown Eagle Chin na is a two person chin na form. It is a form that represents part of a style and school of grappling called the Grand Chaining School of Chin na. This 38 minute tape moves through many repetitions of the movements so those trying to learn can get a good look at the movements. James Cravens and Tony Caucci demonstrate the movements. This is not a beginner tape of chin na, but is a good exercise if you have a good partner.

Buddy Benford has studied the martial arts since 1974. He is an active member of CBII. In 1977, Christopher Casey introduced Buddy to Chin na and it inspired him to pursue the subject with great passion. Buddy's emphasis focuses on the application of this art which consist of seizing, twisting, and pressing. He presently resides with his family in Pella, Iowa. This DVD serves only as an introduction to chin na. When one gets a base, then the study of energy becomes the theme. We have added an additonal 30+ minutes beyond what is on the video tape version. Introduction to Ground Fighting by Buddy Benford is an edited version of the seminar Buddy taught 12/02 in which he laid the foundation for ground work. When to use grappling and ground fighting is a very important matter as Chinese Boxing always wants to handle every encounter efficiently. Buddy provides movement drills so one can get confortable with movement. He teaches position and line and angle as one is on the ground. He also teaches a section on going down to the ground. Buddy believes that the principles of Chinese Boxing translate to the ground and his presentation attempts to give the student some solid fundamentals for development.
